Update on the Ruler of the Rhythm Collection
I didn't announce this everywhere, but over 2025 I worked on updating & polishing some video game remixes that I wrote for Nintendo Loop's Ruler of the Rhythm project a few years back.
After sitting on these tracks for a while with no movement, I made the call to delay this project indefinitely and put the remixes on the shelf. I really hate having to can anything - especially when I've done some great work already - but my motivation to finish these remixes has seriously died down and I wouldn't want to force myself to finish them & put out something half-baked or unsatisfying.
That said, I don't want to abandon the project completely! I'm still excited about the idea of giving all the remixes another home on my discography with a fresh, Glystene-coloured coat of paint, and I owe so much to the Nintendo Loop community especially for giving me a platform to show off my art and try some new stuff musically.
So! I'm going to rebrand the project as Ruler of the Rhythm Selections for now; the two singles I've already released have been updated to reflect this, using a new album cover featuring an amazing piece by Shubashrub and some super clean graphic design elements by Xin Eohp. If/when I finish any remixes they will be added to the Selections!
This way I can stop stressing myself out over the compilation and add to the group as inspiration returns, while still showing off the incredible work done by these fine artists. All of the original remixes are available on the Nintendo Loop YouTube channel under the name "VocalEcho" if you'd like to hear them - they might just be a little dated!
With the Ruler of the Rhythm Selections on the backburner I can go back to writing new originals in 2026, something I have been sorely missing as I've devoted most of my time to this project. Hopefully I can come back to the remixes in the future with renewed confidence and finish what I started!
